Epic Bicycle Adventures in the Alps made possible with Snow Cab
The scenery alone, that will unfold as you pedal the paths, trails and roads Hautes-Alpes, is epic - but it’s the entire experience that will leave you breathless and amazed. Discovering Montgenèvre and surrounds by way of bicycle really connects you to your surroundings and leaves you wanting more!
“It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best,
since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them.”
Ernest Hemingway
Snow Cab’s transport services cover most of the Alps and there are a number of routes across France and Italy that we specialise in. And we don’t just transfer people like pros - we are experts at transporting sports and adventure equipment too. We’ll get you to where you need to go in no time so that you can begin to explore our beautiful area of the Alps without delay.
Perhaps you are an avid mountain biker visiting to venture high-altitude cross-country routes and graded trails that trace in and out of France and Italy... or maybe you come with cycles in tow ready to hit the long and winding roads with determination.
As you probably know by now, or can imagine, outdoor activities like cycling are what we like to call one of the ‘big five’ of ‘wild’ adventure pursuits in the Alps. With the area being renown for its road and mountain routes, it is a mecca for cyclists.
Keeping up with the Pros
With the Tour de France and L’Étape du Tour de France, both burning up the asphalt in the area annually, for more than a decade - we are equipped and experienced to deal professionally with the transportation of people and paraphernalia.
You will certainly get a feel for the absolute test on mind and body as you head for the hills - it’s in the air and etched on the roads - including some of the most impressive and insane climbs, en route. Take for example stage 12 of this year’s race, from Briançon to Alpe d’Huez, covering 170km and more than 4,500m of vertical climb.
We recently supported contenders of the L’Étape du Tour de France. This is what they had to say:
“Thank you very much for looking after the boys... at the end of the etape on Sunday. They are just back home and after an incredibly tough ride they said it was amazing to be met by you at the top and have their bikes sorted when they couldn’t quite think straight! Your support made a massive difference to the end of their day... Ollie said to be handed a beer to celebrate the finish was perfect. That was a big route! What a day. Hopefully see you again in the mountains one day in the future.”
On your bike
Time to get out and about into the glory of the great outdoors. Whether you are ready to ‘cruise’, partaking in a more casual biking experience, or are avid mountain bikers on a mission, there are many trails to take on, from the expert to the easy-going. And the Alps do not disappoint - setting the scene in style, with super summery weather in your favour and invigorating mountain air and the wide-open space – your awe-inspiring open-air playground awaits.
All things bicycle
One worthwhile stop on your adventures is Spoon Customs, a handmade bike company that began right here in Montgenèvre. And to get you on the right tracks, we are working with our friends and partners Sensations Montagne, to help make your amazing mountain adventures possible. We even have national downhill mountain biking competitions that Montgenèvre village plays host to regularly.
Leave the logistics to us
Our aim, with the rising costs of rentals, is to make your travel affordable and stress free. Not only that, we are fully licensed and have been transferring guests across the alps since 2008. Our drivers are peak performers too - they undergo all the current training available to stay ahead of the game and of course, parle Anglais.
The mountains are calling
And so, all that is left to do is to plan a trip to our neck of the woods. It’s time to fill your days with Alpine adventures and scenic exploration at astonishing heights - and to get your blood pumping and your heart racing! Whether you bring your own or hire bikes, we are at your service. This is the stuff memories are made of.
